A Very Dull Afternoon

Alice had begun to grow very tired of sitting by her sister on the bank — and of having nothing to do.

Once or twice she had peeped into the book — but it had no pictures or conversations in it. "And what is the use of a book," thought Alice.

She was considering whether the pleasure of making a daisy-chain was worth the trouble of getting up, when suddenly -

A White Rabbit

with pink eyes ran close by her.

"Oh dear! Oh dear!
I shall be too late!"

— The White Rabbit

There was something so very interesting about that. But the Rabbit took a watch out of its waistcoat-pocket — and ran on.

And Alice

Burning with curiosity,

ran after it, and continued to chase the Rabbit.

In another moment,
Alice was already lost.
